The 2009 Chassagne-Montrachet La Grande Montagne initially comes across as rather shy and inward, then fleshes out beautifully on the mid-palate with a burst of deep fruit. The Grand Montagne develops into an intense, muscular wine in the glass, qualities that flow through to the finish. This is a fabulous showing. Anticipated maturity: 2014+.
