From bottle, the 2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Mar?chale is still marked by the extremes of the vintage. It offers up attractive aromas of cassis, cherries, rose petals and violets, but it's rich, firm and rather heady on the palate, bearing the stamp of the two hailstorms that struck this site. Mugnier wonders if it might evolve like his 1991, so perhaps time will be kind to it.
