I tasted the 2023 Pinot Noir Clos du Ciel as a tank sample just before it was bottled. Initial touches of new-oak spice give way to scents of cranberry, red cherry, hibiscus, mint, oolong tea leaves and compelling earthy undertones. The palate matches surprisingly concentrated, wild berry flavors with generous new oak that still allows the wines earthy character to come through. It’s structured by silky tannins and mouthwatering acidity and has a long, spicy finish. It should be long lived in the cellar. A total of 226 cases were made, and the wine will be released in September of 2025.
