Morlets 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Mon Chevalier is 92% Cabernet Sauvignon (about two-thirds Clone 4 and one-third Clone 337), plus 5% Cabernet Franc and 1% each Malbec, Merlot and Petit Verdot. As you might expect from someone who made the wines at Peter Michael, Morlet knows something about dealing with Knights Valley fruit, and this bottling, from an estate vineyard, is always solid. The nose hints at tobacco, then moves on to offer up notes of ripe cherries and cassis. In the mouth, its medium to full-bodied, open-knit and rather roughly textured, lacking a bit of refinement in its youth, but it delivers ample fruit and concentration and a long, intense finish.
