Picked on the last day of the harvest on 8 October, the 2019 Grand Cru Hengst Riesling fermented for three months in foudre and, after racking, was aged on the fine lees for another seven months. Bottled in July 2020, the wine offers a pure, fine and refreshing, saline and lemony bouquet. On the palate, this is a rich, lush, intense yet refined, salty and salivating Hengst with intense and complex fruit with firm but fine tannin grip. This is still a baby and there might be some greenish phenols, but the wine has character, grip and tension. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in May 2022. To be released in one year or possibly longer.
