Tasted blind at the annual "Burgfest" tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Vosne-Roman?e 1er Cru Aux Reignot has a very reduced nose, so much so that it was difficult eking much out of the glass. The fruit feels darker than Cathiard's Vosne en Orveau 2012 - black plum and blackcurrant leaf, just a touch of morel, but it remains anchored to the stemware. Possibly this is a case of insufficient aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit. The acidity is nicely judged and imbues the wine with balance and freshness, although I would have preferred more detail and personality on the tea-leaf stained finish that shows bona fide class.
