From a stony site on the slope with just 15 centimeters of clay overlying limestone, the 2024 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets has turned out beautifully despite the vintage’s limitations, blossoming in the glass with aromas of nashi pear, white flowers, lemon oil and freshly baked bread, mingled with fresh hazelnut. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, chiseled and pure, with immense tension and considerable depth, culminating in a long finish with a persistent chalky grip. It is well worth tracking down.
