Disgorged in March 2024 with a dosage of 1.15 grams per liter, the 2019 Blanc de Noirs Orizeaux originates from a neighboring parcel to Les Barres, boasting both southern and northern exposures. Planted to Pinot Noir in 1970, the site is defined by 1.6-meter-deep soils of sand and fragmented limestone overlying chalk bedrock. The wine is matured in seasoned oak barrels ranging from two to nine years of age. Already flamboyant in its youth, it opens with a deep bouquet of crisp yellow apple, warm pastries and orange zest. Texturally rich and layered, it is ample and multidimensional, culminating in a long, saline finish. Among the more extroverted wines in Chartogne’s portfolio, it remains controlled by ripe yet racy acidity, striking a fine balance between intensity and elegance.
